Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi said it needs at least three more months to make a clean Iraq from ISIS. |
"Current conditions indicate Iraq needs three months to clean ISIS," Abadi said in an interview with local media, as reported by Russia Today on Wednesday (28/12).
Abadi's statement is actually different from what he revealed when the early Mosul operation lasted about three months ago. At that time, Abadi said that ISIS can be cleared before the turn of the year.
Meanwhile, the commander of US forces in Iraq, Stephen Townsend said the clean-up operation in Mosul and Raqqa ISIS continues despite slow. He said it took two years to clear ISIS from both cities.
"The hard work and it will take two more years to clean ISIS from their base in Mosul and Raqqa and kill or capture those trying to flee to the deserts of Syria and Iraq," said Townsend.
